Luke has had a favorite shirt for a long time. It is this orange Thomas the Tank Engine t-shirt I got at Target about 2 years ago. It is a size 3T so it was big at first. Then he grew into it. Then it started getting to small. He didn't seem to care and I didn't either. He would wear it all the time. If he couldn't find it because I had put it in the laundry then he would keep asking for it till it was clean. Once it was clean he would ask to wear it. Usually he had to wait till the next day since he would already be dressed.
Well, I did laundry the other day and washed "the" shirt. It was in our room in a basket to be put away. The next morning Luke needed clothes to wear and John was still sleeping so he went to our room to see what was available. He found the Thomas shirt, so he of course put it on. He put on a long sleeve shirt too since it was cold. He went to the living room and told Seth he had to change because the shirt kept riding up his belly and thus was too small. He then came to the room and told me the same thing.
I must admit I got a little teary-eyed. Luke LOVED that shirt and I will always remember him wearing it. (We had his 4 yr pics taken in it.) But, the shirt is now retired. It is one of those things that no one else will wear. I will save it. It may not last till he has children, but, I just can see putting anyone else in that shirt, the orange Thomas shirt.
